You know, if a non role-play thread went over, say, 4 pages, it gets locked unless it is a very interesting topic that affects a large thing. Also, shouldn't any hostile arguments or flames be locked immediately?

For the first thing. . . No, unless it's off topic (say, a thread about Fluttershy turning into one about what you had for lunch). Hostile arguments and flame-wars? Yes. All of the participants should also be warned.
